F/W 2019/20 Indigenous Metamorphosis Collection
Metamorphosis is defined as a biological process by which an animal physically develops after birth, involving a conspicuous and relatively abrupt change in the animal's body structure through cell growth and differentiation. The best example is from the caterpillar to the pupa and from the pupa to the adult butterfly is a physical metamorphosis.The butterfly is a symbol of metamorphosis, balance, and grace in the western culture. Indigenous metamorphosis is a phrase that encompasses the change we all face at different stages in our lives from growth of the mind through our life experiences from knowledge or life circumstances that change your outlook. Wahkohtowin is a Cree word which denotes the interconnected nature of relationships, communities, and natural systems throughout the globe. The connections between everything has always been very interesting to me and is a teaching in the cree culture that reinforces the phrase we are all related.
